Celebrating 8 years Happy Birthday Mika

Today, my sweet little sunshine you are 8 years old. I know that I say this every year – but I still can’t believe how quick time goes by and that you are growing up so fast.

You’ve eagerly anticipated the arrival of your birthday. I know it was a long wait as your birthday falls in the last month of the year.

On this day, we celebrate you and your life thus far. I am dedicating this special birthday post to you. At this age, this birthday message will most probably bear no significance to you. As your main focus is blowing your candles and celebrating with family and friends. But as the excitement fades, I hope that you will sit and read this post.

When I was expecting you, we wanted to find out your gender. Totally convinced that you were a boy. Only to discover at the 24 week ultrasound scan that you were in actual fact a girl. Your gender didn’t matter and we loved you from the start no matter whether you were a girl or a boy. Our love for you just deepened, the day when you were born.

As parents, we are extremely proud of the girl you are growing up to be. You are developing into a beautiful young girl. With your long brown hair, scraped legs and a couple of scars that can surely tell a few tales.

Since a very young age, you were always very independent. Always wanting to explore and figure things out on your own .

You are incredibility smart and have so much enthusiasm to learn. Your love for reading and questioning the meaning of new words. Helping you build your vocabulary. I hope that you will continue to learn for as long as you live as learning is power.

You are accepting of others and their differences. This I’ve noticed in how you treat your grandparents, your friends and strangers.

Mika, you are most definitely a child with the most expensive taste. You most probably inherited this quality from your maternal grandmother as she too loves extravagant and expensive items.

I find it incredibly joyful to observe you when you sing and dance – even if the lyrics are wrong – at least you have rhythm.

You are a child with so much energy; burning all your calories with all your hopping and skipping. In saying that, continue to be that playful child with a free spirit for as long as you can be.

You have a kind and giving heart – always giving selflessly to others. I admire that you will always make time to write little notes to your friends and sharing what is in your lunchbox.

My child, you are strong willed. This sometimes drives us crazy. However, I will see the positive in this. This quality could be used in a good way. Being strong willed can help you develop strong leadership qualities and be successful in life.

Your indecisiveness can be frustrating to those living with you. Always taking your time to decide what you want. Hoping that you will outgrow this. However, you have proven that you are most definitely not a people’s pleaser. That you don’t just make hasty decisions and eventually when you do decide on something you stick to it.

As the younger sibling, your love for your sister is indescribable. Although there are times when you are very impatient with her and think that you are the eldest. It just shows that both of you are unique in your own way and have different personalities.

You don’t like to lose and are always disappointed when this happens but I want you to know that you cannot be the best at everything. Just try your best and failure should be seen as a learning curve.

Lastly, my wish for you on this special day is that you live your life to the best of your ability and never forget your worth. Trust in God as HE has big plans for your future.

    Happy 8th Birthday

    Love: dad, mom and Lea

I swear she loves expensive taste. She will look past a lunch bar or kit-kat and will opt for Lindt or Ferrero Rochers
