Baffled what to do with the kids during the upcoming school holiday? If your kids love exploring the outdoors as much as mine do; then The Tree House at Boschendal is the perfect outdoor experience for them.
Sometimes we just need a break to relax, sip peacefully on a glass of wine without having to stress about keeping an eye on the kids. The Tree House gives you that peace of mind by keeping the kids busy in a well supervised environment. The facilities offer kids aged 5 – 14 years an authentic eco-farm experience under the guidance of the Tree House team.
The Tree House Facilities
Walking into the activity centre; a gigantic tree greets you. A creative architectural design which blends in with nature. Kids feel welcome from the second they step inside where they have access to their own locker in the locker room, to exploring the science library and the chill room. Not forgetting discovering free-range chickens roaming about in the kitchen area. A door then leads to the outside garden area where there is plentiful to explore.
Free Range Kids Activities
On our recent visit to this beautiful wine farm; my kids participated in the daily programme that is offered at The Tree House. The programme is available to in-house guests and day visitors and runs 7-days a week. Bookings can be for the full day or for one of three 2-hour activities. Advance bookings for activities are essential as only 10 kids can be accommodated per time slot.
The pre-booked educational activities include foraging and harvesting, teaching kids about permaculture and sustainability, gardening and crafts, how to make a fire and fire safety, cooking and baking, shelter building and survival skills. Other supervised activities include going on nature walks to explore the farm and horse riding. Note that these activities are designed for kids only and parents are not allowed to join.
Free Play and Pump Track
The free treehouse-themed play area boasts acorn hideouts, slides, walkways, platforms, mushroom pods and pyramids. The pump track is located next to the play area and visitors can either bring their own bikes or rent a bike from the MTB Trail centre. This area requires parental supervision.
