Winter is the perfect opportunity to explore beautiful places within the Western Cape. And there is no better place than the Overberg countryside. This time of the year, it is peaceful and relaxed.
Still exploring this beautiful town of Stanford, our next stop over was White Water Farm. Just 10 km outside Stanford you will find White Water Farm, situated in the Kleinriver valley.
To our surprise this farm was literally next to Blue Gum Country Estate that we visited. So it saved us from driving a distance. As we drove into the farm, the girls were so excited to see the horses. The picturesque landscape with lush green lawns grabbed our attention immediately. As we pulled up in front of the reception area, two beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs came to greet us.
We had the privilege to stay in the newly renovated main Farmhouse. Our friendly host, Beverly escorted us to our accommodation. Pleasantly surprised as we entered as this house is beautiful. Pure luxury is an understatement. To maintain the rich historic elements of the old farm house; it meant that the overall design was carefully considered. With its spacious floor plans, this house is the perfect accommodation type for families and groups of six. Elegantly decorated, the interior has a mix of contemporary and modern furniture. Each room has soft earthy tones, which makes it homely and warm.
This beautiful farmhouse has an open plan living and dining room with a modern fully fitted kitchen. In the living room there is an indoor fireplace which was comforting for the cold evening. But even if you don’t light the indoor fireplace, you will not be freezing in this house as it includes heating and cooling elements.
It boasts three beautiful bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom. And not forgetting heated towel rails in all the bathrooms. The beds are so comfy, you simply just want to curl up and relax on it.
The sliding doors open up to a private courtyard. There you will find an outdoor braai facility surrounded with magnificent gardens.
As with our stay at Blue Gum where we were led by the border collie, this time Peggy, the Pug made her appearance. She made herself right at home on the couch. The girls were in their element and Peggy enjoyed all the attention too.
After a good nights rest; the next morning we headed off to The Garden Grill to enjoy a delicious breakfast. The Garden Grill is the onsite restaurant and situated adjacent to the main Farm House. Served at 08h00 and it was in the form of a delicious Continental and Hot English Buffet.
White Water Farm offers a number of exciting things to do while you staying there. These include hiking up the mountain, swimming or lazing on the lounges by the swimming pool, horse riding or having a body treatment at Bloom Spa room.
The weather was glorious with not a cloud in the sky. The best part of a winter break away is that there are usually a limited number of guests to share the facilities with. We basically had the entire farm to ourselves. So after breakfast, we enjoyed exploring the beautiful landscapes with its mature gardens and lavender-lined paths.
This farm has so many fruit trees ranging from naartjies, oranges, lemons, quavas. Fresh produce of herbs and vegetables are home grown on the farm’s 400sqm organic vegetable garden – which spells out – quality served on a plate.
Besides the five dogs on the farm, there is also cattle, horses, donkeys and chickens. The girls were amazed at all the animals on the farm.
We took a walk up to the Twin Dam and it was good to see that the one dam was filled to capacity due to the recent rainfall. White Water Farm’s main water supply comes from these two dams.
The owners, Alex and Rob took ownership of the property in 2015 and has since turned this gem into a luxury four-star guest farm. With newly renovated accommodation, wedding and conference facilities, White Water Farm is a rural haven with magnificent mountain scenery.
Other than the farmhouse; White Water Farm offers an assortment of self-catering cottages, suites and rooms decorated in an elegant modern country style. All accommodation includes breakfast.
It is also the perfect wedding facility with an onsite chapel and beautiful reception area.
We had a wonderful stay at White Water Farm and would highly recommend booking accommodation with them. If you are interested in staying at this beautiful rustic farm, then call them directly by visiting their website.
Thank you White Water Farm for hosting us.
