We are half way through the year with so much that transpired. June, being my birthday month had its highs and oh so many lows. This month started off with a bang with so many joys. But then towards the middle it was overshadowed with so many dark clouds (literally and figuratively). However as we embrace the storms and see no end in sight; the sun comes out and brings a new understanding.
And in that moment of so much darkness, I was embraced with so much gratitude and appreciation for life itself.
Here is my June gratitude list.
Youth Day
On 16 June we celebrated Youth Day to commemorate the 1976 Soweto uprising when the youth marched for their rights, stood together in unity and fought for freedom. I am thankful that I know the past and that it paved the way for the youth of today.
Father’s Day
I’m grateful for the fathers in my life. Because of them I am and so are the generations that follow. I am grateful for a wonderful husband who is a good father to my children. Not many have the privilege to have their fathers in their lives. I am blessed to be surrounded by great fathers who give selflessly and has played an integral part in my life and that of my family.
Birthday
I am grateful that God blessed me by adding another year to my life. I am thankful that I could celebrate it with my family. The older I get the more I appreciate life. I am grateful for what I have, my accomplishments, and also my shortcomings.
End of a school term
I am so proud of my daughters for their academic achievements this term. I am thankful for the hard work they’ve put in and that my husband and I had the time to assist and motivate when they needed us. Thank you to the teachers for their hard work and endless inspiration to shape those young minds.
Mid Year Holiday
The mid year holiday presents an opportunity to disconnect from work and school stress. It’s a time to relax and spend quality time with friends and family.
Family
I am forever grateful for my family for their encouragement, love and support through the good and bad times. Having them in my life makes it worthwhile. That I have aunts, uncles and cousins who are pillars of strength in times of need.
Health
I am grateful for my health. To have the strength, physical and mental ability to work and do the every day things in life.
Life
Life is a gift and I am thankful for it and all its adversity. It’s a blessing to wake up in the morning and breathe, to make choices, to have a purpose, to have opportunities, to be kind, to smile, to be happy, to love and to be loved. I think we often take life in its entirety for granted.
The above I’m sharing is personal to me and what I’m grateful for. Please share one thing that you were grateful for during the month of June. Leave your comments in the box below.
